Jacksonville Personal Injury Lawyers Who Care
Your Story Matters.
Our firm of believes that everyone deserves justice and the finest legal representation at a fair price and to be treated with respect and personal attention – to personally know their lawyer. A lawyer must fight, but also must have compassion. We live in a world where injury claims are treated like “fast food,” lawyers spend millions advertising to collect as many cases as they can. You are not just a “case.” You are a person. With a problem. And need help.
John’s grandfather and great grandfather practiced law in a world that was less about “self” and the dollar and more about advocating for those who needed someone trustworthy to fight for them. His team believes each client is important and cherished.
Our mission is to help people one-by-one and often develop friendships with our clients along the way. Personal attention is still available in the practice of law. If you hire a lawyer and don’t meet with a lawyer from day one, you’ve hired the wrong lawyer.
Board Certification Matters.
John is the third youngest attorney in northeast Florida to be Board Certified by the Florida Bar. He is the youngest to be BOTH AV-Preeminent Rated by Martindale and Board Certified in northeast Florida. Board Certification allows John to be called an expert and specialist in civil trial law.
To be Board Certified in Civil Trial Law, one must:
Personally try many cases. John has tried many cases in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Board Certification rewards those who “walk the walk.” You pay the same contingency fee, why pay the same for someone who merely “talks the talk”?
Pass a peer review. The Bar asks other lawyers to comment on whether you meet the standards of professionalism of a Board Certified attorney. Reputation matters.
Keep learning. The Florida Bar requires expert lawyers to undergo advanced level training, above and beyond that required to keep a law license.
Pass a full day examination. John passed an exam on his first try, testing his knowledge of the Rules of Ethics, Evidence and Civil Procedure.
An AV-Preeminent Rating is determined by Martindale, which has been accumulating lawyer ratings since the 1800’s. An AV-Preeminent Rating is the highest available and is “a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.” It is solely based on the anonymous ratings provided by lawyers and judges in the lawyers jurisdiction. According to Martindale, it is based on:
Legal Knowledge – A lawyer’s familiarity with the laws in his or her specific area of practice.
Analytical Capabilities – A lawyer’s creativity in analyzing legal issues and applying technical knowledge.
Judgment – A lawyer’s demonstration of the salient factors that drive the outcome of a given case or issue.
Communication Ability – A lawyer’s capability to communicate persuasively and credibly.
Legal Experience – A lawyer’s degree of experience in his or her specific area of practice(s).
John Phillips and his staff have the legal experience and resources to properly use the justice system to help clients. Whether handling the ordinary (or the extraordinary) automobile wreck, fall or shooting case, to jury trials covered by Good Morning America, from appealing our client’s fight to the highest courts in the land, to sitting beside a client as she testifies before the U.S. Senate, our firm has the resources and experience to get the job done- however small, however big.
We take pride in our state-of-the-art courtroom technology, which was recently featured in Void Magazine. Each attorney in the firm is adept at using focus groups and mock juries and innovative, demonstrative evidence. The firm is equipped with a state-of-the-art computer system, video production, and John has more anatomic and biological models than many physicians in town. It’s a science and we work hard to know the science very well and convey it to adjusters, jurors, judges, and you simply and passionately.
Our firm has many million dollar verdicts and settlements to our credit in cases ranging from soft tissue injuries to brain damage cases, as well as many favorable criminal defense verdicts, dismissals and plea bargains. In four of the past five years, John’s clients have received verdicts or settlements of over $1 million dollars on multiple occasions.
